Hillary is a licensed mental health counselor and a registered expressive arts therapist. She received both her PhD and her MA in Expressive Therapies and Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University, and currently holds therapy licenses in the states of Nebraska and North Carolina. Hillary is the acting Clinical Director of the Art Therapy Institute (ATI), a nonprofit based out of Carrboro, North Carolina. She has worked with various populations since 2008, but her current clinical work focuses on refugee and immigrant mental health, and also on adults living with severe and persistent mental illness.
Beyond her arts-based clinical work at ATI, Hillary provides outside supervision to new clinicians, teaches in the Expressive Therapies graduate division at Lesley University, and is a member of Voces Arts & Healing, a volunteer-led organization that brings arts-based programming to migrants and mental health professionals along the Mexico-US Border.
