MARLENE KENNEY
Director of Disaster Mental Health & Training
Marlene is FAS's Disaster Mental Health and Training Director. She has been part of FAS since the beginning and involved as a team member and advisor on various projects online and offline in Ukraine.
Marlene is a Member of the Council of Scholars Clinical Practice Group, a select group of EMDR Therapy leaders. She is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Project facilitator, and R-TEP Trainer in -training. Marlene also specializes in critical incident response and EMDR early intervention with suicide loss and traumatic grief. From 2013 -to 2021 a senior clinician and lead member of the Riverside Trauma Center’s critical incident team. There I coordinated and led responses to natural disasters, suicide loss and suicide clusters, fire, flood, medical deaths, accidents, and homicide. With field experience in a range of schools, homeless service organizations, organizations, private businesses, and municipalities my experience in trauma response spans is diverse and deep. Psychological First Aid and Post Traumatic Stress Management ground the approach to trauma response at Riverside Trauma Center. She has trained groups, organizations, and schools in these approaches.
